INTERLINKING CONVERTER IN HYBRID AC/DC MICROGRID

Abstract

Nowadays, renewable energy sources (RES) demand has grown. Meanwhile, more RES will be connected to utility grid. Depend on the power source that generate by RES, microgrid can be divided into three types system, DC microgrid, AC microgrid and unified between them, that is hybrid ac/dc microgrid. Hybrid AC/DC microgrid is microgrid that separates based on the power generated and its load, it’s mean ac power generated will be located with ac load, and dc power generated will be located with dc load. And between them it can be connected with interlinking converter. This converter has two mode operation, rectifier mode and inferter mode, the benefit of this configuration is it will reduce the use of converter on the system, as we know that converter is non linier equipment so it coused harmonic in the system. This paper proposed interlinking converter that connecting AC and DC microgrid, this converter based on bidirectional converter. The simulation verify the proposed system, that the interlinking converter can maintain the voltage and power transferred.
