Abstract

Biopelet is one of renewable alternative energy sourced from biomass. Raw materials in this study, making biopelet, derived from bagasse and coconut shell charcoal. Biopelets vary in size, ie between 6-12 mm in diameter and between 10-25 mm in length. The method used is the addition of coconut shell charcoal powder percentage from 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% with the addition of tapioca adhesive as much as 10% and 20% from the weight of the material. Testing of this biopelet includes density, moisture content, ash content, airborne content and bound carbon content. Parameters used as reference of the quality in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard. From the research result, it is known that the best composition of biopelet made from mixed bagasse and coconut shell charcoal is found in biopelet with the composition of 25% bagasse + 75% coconut shell charcoal. In this composition yield 5.39% moisture content, ash content 6.63%, airborne content 36.66%, bonded carbon content 51.32% and the optimum density of 0.5903 gr / cm3.
